Midwest Living Review
Considered one of Fargo's favorite dining spots, Monte's Downtown beckons with eclectic Continental fare and a modern but intimate feel that blends rich woodwork with colorful pendant lights and wall colors. In the summer months, diners often trade tables facing Broadway for a cozy patio behind the restaurant. Look for a varied blend of appetizers such as the slightly messy but tasty shredded pork tacos, wild mushroom soup with blue cheese croutons or wild-boar-bacon-wrapped scallops. Popular entrees include Monte's meatballs in a demi-cream sauce over spaetzle, macadamia-nut-crusted halibut with mango-plum sauce over rice, and oven-broiled rack of lamb with port demi-glaze and basil mashed potatoes. They also have a lighter menu for late-night eating.
