Midwest Living Review
A short jaunt north of Killdeer, Badlands Trail Rides are a great way to experience the spectacular views of Little Missouri State Park. This low-key family-run operation leads rides on gentle horses that carry riders to see multicolored hills surrounding the Little Missouri River valley. With two-, three- and four-hour options, you choose how long you want to be in the saddle. Just call in advance and reserve your spot.
This business is definitely humble, but compared to trail rides in the more touristy Medora area, the price is a much better value at $34 per person (plus tax) for two hours. Plus, the scenery is simply breathtaking. In fact, if you can't get enough of the views, look into accommodations at the neighboring Eastview Campground, where sparsely decorated cabins sit right on the ridge. Primitive sites are $15, full hook-up RV sites $25 and cabin rates range from $42 to $158.
