Middle Loup River
About 80 miles south of Valentine, the Nebraska National Forest's tree-shaded Bessey Recreation Area edges the meandering Middle Loup River, popular with floaters in canoes, inner tubes and (no kidding!) big round galvanized-metal stock tanks.
