Midwest Living Review

In 2011, TD Ameritrade Park became the beautiful new home of NCAA Men's College World Series.

Each year, thousands of baseball fans trek to Omaha for the exciting atmosphere of the NCAA Division 1 Men's College World Series (CWS). Previously held at the historic Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium, the CWS relocated in 2011 to the new TD Ameritrade Park, just north of downtown Omaha. At the new stadium, parking problems and traffic jams that plagued Rosenblatt have pretty much disappeared, and the small-town feel that drew patrons from across the nation has given way to skyscrapers, corporate sponsorships and urban development. Tailgaters -- along with food and beer tents -- still circle the major-league-like arena, but new additions and amenities like sports bars, restaurants and shops have added to the celebratory vibe. As fans meander through the streets surrounding the park, the smell of barbecue, freshly popped popcorn and Zesto's hamburgers -- an Omaha tradition -- fill the air. Inside the stadium, fans can purchase the usual baseball snacks, such as salted pretzels, peanuts, freshly squeezed lemonade and hot dogs, along with some unusual finds like Hawaiian smoothies. The stadium's spacious interior makes it easy for people to move about without feeling cramped. Every seat in the house offers an amazing panoramic view of both the diamond and downtown Omaha (not to mention plenty of legroom). And wide walkways provide a full-circle tour of the stadium. It is not the old Rosenblatt Stadium, but we like the modern amenities here.
