Midwest Living Review
This compact shop’s colorful cast of characters grabs attention from folks heading around the corner to Ted and Wally’s Ice Cream or across the street to Fairmont Antiques and Mercantile. Both cater to folks who crave a few surprises, and this home-and-garden decor complements that playful spirit.
Instead of a standard wooden park bench, you can find a bright green metal one shaped like a menacing alligator for about $295. Another way to impress visitors (or scare them away): A full coat of armor that stands at attention. Most of the metal decor that spills onto the sidewalk of Old Market can be whimsical. Look for a brightly colored peacock, a dog created with old machine parts, a flying pig, nanny goat and kid, a massive iron steer and stylish beer buckets.
The shop is compact, but loaded floor to ceiling with iron accents. We were there in the fall, when a Halloween-themed cauldron spilled over with willowy smoke. Mexican-style suns and mosaic mirrors can be found throughout the store.
Prices range from $4 for colorful mango-size hunks of rough glass to several hundred dollars for benches and large sculptures.
