Midwest Living Review

A romantic atmosphere combined with great food and a solid location make Omaha's new Zin Room restaurant a winner.

Chef Ryan Gish's famous take on mac and cheese, Gouda chicken ($14.99), is reason enough for locals to follow him to the Zin Room from his former restaurant. The chef calls the menu Americana fusion cuisine, and it's filled with traditional favorites kicked up a notch with gourmet ingredients. Salmon Florentine ($24.99) is topped with roasted red pepper aioli, and steak gets a peppercorn crust and cognac creme ($19.99). In addition to the Gouda mac, we especially enjoyed the bacon-wrapped dates with blue cheese and balsamic drizzle ($8.99). The restaurant name echoes the extensive wine selection. This is a great spot to eat or enjoy a drink before or after a show at the nearby Orpheum Theater. The building is also home to the hip new Hotel Deco, where the Encore Lounge also draws preshow patrons. One dining bonus is the free valet parking, saving diners up to $10 on event parking prices. Of course, you might invest that $10 right back into drinks and desserts like the mammoth fried ice cream.
