Midwest Living Review

Theresa Farrage
In the heart of Omaha’s historic Benson community, Lot 2 offers an eclectic array of American and French-inspired cuisine focused on approachable, innovative food sourced primarily from local farmers and ranchers.

Lot 2 is as unique as the diverse neighborhood surrounding it. Its reasonably priced menu features interesting items such as crispy pig ears, roasted bone marrow and a vegan kabob. Although the atmosphere is minimal with white walls and simple decor, the food is anything but bland. If intimate dining isn’t your thing, then you may not appreciate the coziness of this quaint establishment because the tables and chairs are fairly close to one another. The service is friendly, and the chef is willing to go out of his way to accommodate food sensitivities. Whether you’re a foodie who appreciates fine cuisine prepared by a seasoned chef or you’re new to the whole sustainable dining experience, there is something on the menu for you. Portion sizes are reasonable, not sizeable by any means. You may have to order a few items on the menu because you don’t get extras like bread, soup or salad with your entrée. We enjoyed spicy Caribbean grouper ($15), though we wished it had come with a side dish; falafel ($8); and creamy stuffed dates ($4). The kale salad ($5) was both too salty and too skimpy for us. But overall, our food was fresh, full of robust flavors and presented artfully. Lot 2 also has a fabulous bar stocked with an assortment of beers and wines, as well as a plethora of handcrafted cocktails infused with fresh squeezed juices.
