Midwest Living Review

Regency offers a solid choice for clean, comfortable lodging at moderate prices.

Regency Lodge is a solid pick if you're looking for a clean, comfortable place to stay that offers a few basic amenities. The two-story hotel has 146 guest rooms (roughly $99-$199 per night), including seven suites; rooms come equipped with coffeemakers, refrigerators, microwaves, Bath & Body Works toiletries and, best of all, free Internet access. A full hot breakfast is also included in the price (think scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns). Two restaurants are part of the package. Lunch and dinner are served at 909 Lounge, which has an outdoor patio and features live piano music Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings (it's supposedly Omaha's only piano bar). Brookside Restaurant serves breakfast and lunch. Other amenities include a pool and sauna, banquet facilities, a business center and a 24-hour fitness center. Although the hotel is located in a rather tired nook in western Omaha amid worn office buildings and strip malls, it's only one mile from major shopping and dining areas and within four miles of the popular attraction Boys Town. The hotel operates a free shuttle to anywhere within a 5-mile radius. One note: Regency bills itself as "retreat in the city" and is loosely themed as a woodsy Western lodge, featuring pinecone light fixtures, wildlife photography, woods-theme bedspreads and the like. But make no mistake, you're still definitely in the middle of a city.
