Midwest Living Review
A love of beer led Brian Podwinski to co-found this Lincoln brewery in December 2011 after an injury forced him to retire from the local police department. Jason Goodwin, a Grand Island police officer and fellow home brewer, joined him in the endeavor. We love the background and the people behind this brewery, and we really wanted to like the products, too. However, for our tastes, the brews are just too bitter and too hoppy. If bitter is your thing, or if you just enjoy trying new craft beer, Blue Blood brews are available for purchase in many Omaha and Lincoln area stores.
The brewery doesn’t offer any food, just beer and some souvenir-type swag. The current product line takes in five classic brews, including 834—Happy as Ale and 1327— Pod's ESP. The 467— Ethan's Stout is available on tap in some Lincoln restaurants. (Interestingly, the numbers refer to police badges.) Check the brewery website for updated sales locations and dates of brewery tours. We can't help but root for Blue Blood and hope the product gets better the longer these guys work at it.
