Atwood House Bed and Breakfast

Atwood House B&B, a neoclassic Georgian Revival home with large white columns and decorative trim, is impressive from the outside, but the luxury is found inside. We arrived to in-suite roses, chocolates and romantic music softly playing to set the mood. A long soak in the spa tub was appealing, especially when we noticed the high-quality selection of bath salts and terry-cloth robes. Forget your razor? Nearly any toiletry you could want is already waiting for you. Beyond the bathroom, the suite was furnished with high-quality antiques, and the cozy bedding and mattresses made getting a good night's sleep easy. If you're more in the mood for fun, step outside the comfortable rooms. Homemade cakes and cookies on glass serving stands in the kitchen tempt guests. Boxes of movie candy and shelves full of movies are available for the taking. And a sunroom has a free jukebox. In the morning, have your three-course breakfast in the dining room, in the sunroom or in your guest room. Our first course was a pineapple boat with sugared raspberries; the second was an oven-warm heart-shape cranberry tart; and the third course featured pancakes topped with an egg and covered with bacon, melted cheese and more bacon. You can stay up and chat like some of the repeat guests, or sneak off to enjoy the amenities of your guest room or the nightlife in Lincoln's nearby Haymarket district. From $85-$199.
