Midwest Living Review
The country setting, lovely decor and gracious hospitality at this inn near Minden make it a perfect spot to unplug and relax. The location is also ideal for those visiting for the annual spring Sandhill crane migration. The rooms are bright and pretty, whether your taste lends itself to pastel quilts or plaids. The beds are cozy, and each guest room has its own temperature control and private bath. Some have their own entrances or balconies. The $95 per night rate also gains you a farmhouse to explore, a family-style breakfast and access to the farm property. The setup feels almost surreal, with ducks on the pond, a giant tire swing and benches under shade trees. There are plenty of spots to stroll, play or just relax with a good book. You won't find a television in your guest room, and you probably won't miss it. Although the attractions of Kearney are less than a 30-minute drive away, guests may find they would rather just hang out here. If you get lonely for pets left behind, the innkeepers' beloved farm dog and cats are happy to accept attention. If your stay includes a Thursday to Sunday evening, be sure to check out the on-site, freestanding restaurant. The smoked meats, homemade desserts and quality gift shop items are worth making it part of the visit.
