Midwest Living Review
Whether you’ve been charmed by the Budweiser Clydesdales in their famous television commercials or you’re simply a horse lover at heart, a tour of Warm Springs Ranch is an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours. Located in the rolling hills of Cooper County, Missouri (a two-hour drive from either Kansas City or St. Louis), this 300-acre ranch is the breeding facility for these handsome animals.
Guests can admire approximately 100 horses as they roam the pastures, linger in their pristine stalls in two stunning red barns, and receive their weekly spa treatments from an experienced and passionate breeder-trainer. Knowledgeable, friendly tour guides enlighten visitors about everything they’d ever want to know about the breeding, raising and training of the horses who grow up to pull Budweiser hitches in parades and celebrations across the country. (Take a peek inside the tractor-trailers that provide the pampered accommodations for these horses when they travel.) Visitors get a photo op and the chance to pet one of the Clydesdales at the end of the tour.
This is an easygoing excursion suitable for all ages and a perfect companion activity to a tour of the Budweiser Brewery in St. Louis. Warm Springs Ranch tours are typically offered twice a day between April and October; reservations are required.
