Valentine's Day Date Nights: St. Louis

An orchid show and a bar with more than two dozen chocolate martinis are just two of our picks for a Valentine’s Day date in St. Louis. See suggestions for a budget, mid-priced and luxe Valentine's celebration.

$

Missouri Botanical Garden (missouribotanicalgarden.org) No need to buy a 12-stem bouquet when the Missouri Botanical Garden will have more than 6,000 plants on display during the annual Orchid Show, starting February 9. The show costs $4 for St. Louis (city and county) residents, $8 for non-residents.

Molly’s in Soulard (mollysinsoulard.com) Spice things up with Cajun and Creole creations such as gumbo or jambalaya. Live music on Wednesday and Thursday nights jazzes the evening up even more.

Helium Comedy Club (st-louis.heliumcomedy.com) A couple that laughs, lasts. Tickets are $20 to the Helium Comedy Club's Valentine’s Day with Pat McGann.

SqWires (sqwires.com)  In historic Lafayette Square, SqWires dishes upscale comfort food like seafood chowder, meat loaf or skillet mac & cheese with truffle goat cheese, wild mushrooms and herb breadcrumbs. Check the website for Valentine's Day specials.

Fabulous Fox Theatre (fabulousfox.com) The ornate 1929 theatre feels romantic from the minute you step inside. From Feb. 7-19, see the musical comedy Something's Rotten!  Tickets run $25 to $88.

Bailey’s Chocolate Bar (baileyschocolatebar.com) Open until 1 a.m., Bailey’s is the perfect place for after-dinner or after-the-show drinks and dessert. A full bar (with more than two dozen chocolate martinis) and an extensive dessert menu has a sweet treat for every appetite. We suggest the Lovers' Plate with mini bites of 11 desserts (including brownies, cake and sorbet), meant to be shared.
