Midwest Living Review
Looking for a swill place? This is more than just St. Louis' first new bottling brewery since the end of Prohibition. It's where craft-beer fans come to eat, drink and see their favorite brews made. Take a free, guided tour to learn how each batch of beer is crafted and learn about the city's rich brewing history. Schlafly microbrews some 30 different beers each year and has 10 styles available year-round, while seasonal varieties are typically only available in fairly limited quantities. Find the beers incorporated into the restaurant's menu, too--chicken comes brined in oatmeal stout and the Black and Tan Trifle combines pale-ale spiced cake with oatmeal stout mousse and strawberries. Green living gets serious here as well--among other things, the local farmer's market is held on the grounds every Wednesday, and you can sign up for free lessons to learn gardening secrets in Schlafly garden.
