Midwest Living Review
Miss Aimee B's Tearoom is serious girlfriend territory. On a recent visit, we spotted one group of older gals out for breakfast, a group of med school friends catching up over lunch, a pair of friends gabbing while sharing pie, and a gaggle of women oohing and ahhing over baby shower gifts.Miss Aimee B's is a breakfast and lunch spot in a rambling old Victorian just north of St. Charles' historic district; the menu offers egg dishes, light salads and sandwiches, and a long list of desserts, all homemade. The savory fare isn't especially exciting and portions are a bit meager. The famous cheese-scrambled eggs, for instance, don't come with toast or potatoes. If you want bread, you've got to pay a couple bucks extra. A chicken sandwich tastes fine but has no standout flavors. But the sweets are excellent and generously portioned (ice cream AND whipped cream!), and the service was extremely prompt and friendly. We would absolutely come back, though probably just for dessert and tea.If you come, don't miss the gift shop upstairs. It's large and stocked with a lovely array of small gifts, jewelry, books and toys. The main rooms of the house are pleasant but have dowdy wallpaper, so it's a surprise to find this stylish, sunlit shop upstairs.
