Midwest Living Review
Lewis and Clark's American Restaurant and Public House has enormous promise. It's conveniently located on busy Main Street in St. Charles and occupies a beautifully restored, three-story building. The main dining room is on the second floor, and a third-floor covered porch offers outdoor dining with a lovely view of the brick street below. Everything about the place suggests you're in for great, upscale pub-grub meal. Instead, the dishes we sampled were fine, but nothing special. The lineup includes standard salads and burgers ($7.49-$7.99), pasta (chicken pesto is $9.99), steaks (the ribeye dinner is $17.49), seafood (deep-fried jumbo shrimp for $14.99). Lewis and Clark's is a good choice for families or folks who just want a good, American-style meal in a nice atmosphere, but anyone who wants more ambitious food should look elsewhere.
