Midwest Living Review

Kids love gaming, horseback riding and swimming. Parents enjoy dinner at a lakeside restaurant.

This huge retreat, spread over 420 hilly acres, is particularly family-friendly, with an indoor water park, horseback riding and a huge game room. Couples do dinner at the lakeside Windrose restaurant. This sprawling retreat along Lake of the Ozarks really does have something for everyone. A new, kid-pleasing indoor water park and huge game room appeal to families. (Kids love the water park:It has four curving water slides, a lazy river, a giant bucket that dumps 700 gallons on squealing kids splashing below, big squirt guns and tunnels to slide through.) On the flip side, the 36 holes of golf, big meeting rooms and other facilities draw large groups. NEW The indoor water park opened in late 2004. Rooms are often remodeled. The pool area, in one of the nicest locations along the shore is a real plus. Big means lots of choices, but it also means, well, big. It can be quite a hike uphill to almost anywhere. The indoor water park carries an extra charge ($15 per person for guests). You'll find an Ozark-themed restaurant, fine dining overlooking the lake in the Wind Rose restaurant and a small spa. More than 800 rooms, suites and condominiums (with up to six bedrooms) from $134.
