Midwest Living Review
Small wonders abound in this musuem, where a lot of work goes into making playtime into a new kind of fun. A 38-room mansion built in 1911 (with a couple of renovations in the past two decades) now houses the Toy and Miniature Museum of Kansas City, which claims to have the Midwest’s largest collection of toys and dollhouse-style miniatures, plus the world's largest hoard of marbles. (One million and counting.)
Since it opened in the early 1980s, it has made serious work of showing off delicately crafted playthings, some dating back to the Victorian Era. On the miniature side, you'll find curiosities like a tiny pair of functional dueling pistols, a desk with 19 compartments and a completely furnished American Georgian manor.
