Midwest Living Review
Based at Union Station, Segway Experience of Kansas City has offered rolling history tours of the city since 2001. Choose from four tours: "Urban Journey" (including Union Station and Liberty Memorial), the "Plaza Art and Architecture Tour," "Segway Safari" (a tour through the Kansas City Zoo) and "Union Station: Past and Present." Every tour begins with a 15-minute training session (helmets are required, but you'll get your balance surprisingly quickly). We found that Segways were a really effective way to sightsee, more relaxing than a bicycle and less tiring than walking. Our tour guide, though young, seemed well versed in the trivia and history of Country Club Plaza. Prices range from $20 to $70 for 30-90 minute tours, and tours are offered year-round. Note that occasionally tour times change (we showed up an hour early for our tour!), so when you provide contact information, we'd suggest giving a cell phone rather than a home phone, if possible.
