Midwest Living Review
Located right next to the Legoland Discovery Center in Kansas City's Crown Center, Sea Life Aquarium adds to the family-friendly vibe of the area with impressive aquatic displays that will amaze kids and adults alike. The journey through the aquarium, which opened in 2012, includes a walk through 11 different "scenes" in which guests will encounter more than 5,000 sea creatures. One of the most popular features is a transparent underwater tunnel allowing for up-close views of sharks, rays, coral reef fish and a huge sea turtle. Kids also love the touch pools where they can get up close and personal with starfish and crabs. Engaging interactive quizzes throughout the aquarium teach kids about the creatures. Displays for adults are vague and not too intellectually stimulating, but the sight of hundreds of colorful sea creatures is welcome in landlocked KC. (The aquarium reminds us of the one at Minnesota's Mall of America, for travelers who have seen that.) Purchase tickets online to avoid waiting at the entrance. Online tickets are also available at a slight discount ($18.42 for visitors 13 and older and $14.54 for children ages 3-12).
