Midwest Living Review

Kansas City sports fans head to newly renovated Arrowhead Stadium for NFL football.

Since 1972, the Kansas City Chiefs have played their home games on the turf at Arrowhead Stadium. A three-year renovation has renovated large parts of the venue. To be fair, some of the renovations won't effect the ordinary family attending a game. The Arrowhead added 44 new suites, many of them with kitchens, fireplaces, easy chairs, multiple TVs, private elevators and the like. That's too pricey for most fans. But most of the stadium's additions can be appreciated even in the cheap seats. The stadium added handrails and ADA accessibility on two levels -- as important for families with young or elderly members as those with physical disabilities. New restaurants will include local favorites like Gates BBQ, Peachtree and Garozzo's Italian. And with the addition of 860 TVs throughout the stadium, Dad won't miss any big plays while he's buying food for the kids. On the stadium's field level, the Arrowhead unveiled a Hall of Honor in 2010, with displays honoring legendary players. Area high school players and each year's Big 12 football champs will be honored in separate displays, and the Arrowhead will open a new sports lab, designed to teach the physics of sports to children on educational field tours.
