Cosentino's

At first blush, having a supermarket anchor Kansas City's big downtown Power and Light District may seem odd. But Cosentino's Downtown—the swankiest of the local chain's outlets—is an attraction on its own. The salad bar is 83 feet long, and there's an island of gourmet cheeses that might be big enough to qualify for statehood. A wide array of deli items and prepared foods lets you grab lunch to enjoy in the park. You'll also find made-to-order sushi. Or perhaps it's time for something a bit off the wall. Liverwurst sandwich, anyone? Whatever you choose, please don't miss the gelato—the pistachio is fab.
