Midwest Living Review
Located about 7 miles outside of downtown Kansas City in the small suburban area of Waldo, this hotspot draws a crowd for its excellent pies and indulgent desserts. The place never feels crowded, thanks to a spacious dining area that's separated into two large rooms. Waitstaff is friendly and efficient, even on busy days, and they seem to genuinely enjoy serving up the quality food. We recommend starting off with the garlic cheese bread, which includes eight crispy pieces of bread topped with a gooey mix of cheeses for just $2.95. As far as pizza goes, it's really hard to go wrong. All three distinctive crusts are excellent, but we especially enjoyed the slightly sweet and hearty honey wheat topped with Waldo pizza sauce. The St. Louis-style thin crust pizza is a regional favorite glazed with rich garlic butter and just a hint of sauce. Save room for freshly made Gooey Butter Cake, a St. Louis classic that's basically a brownie with butter instead of cocoa. We also enjoyed the bold coffee flavor and the light and fluffy texture of the tiramisu.
