Midwest Living Review
A pint freezer at Glace Artisan Ice Cream labeled "Doorway to Heaven" couldn't be more accurate. We visited just a couple months after Glace opened in 2010, and the place was buzzing. That's not surprising though, when you consider who owns the place: renowned Kansas City chocolatier Christopher Elbow. Quality ice cream and sorbet ingredients include locally produced Shatto milk and cream, fresh corn supplied by "Farmer Bob" for Farmer Bob's Sweet Corn Ice Cream and imported spice for Vietnamese Cinnamon Ice Cream. Espresso Ice Cream resembles a cup of potent espresso with a healthy dose of cream, and dark, rich, dense Venezuelan Dark Chocolate Ice Cream tastes like tiramisu.Elbow also creates unusual flavor combinations such as light, refreshing cucumber-lime or lemon-blueberry sorbet. Peanut butter and jelly ice cream features plenty of peanut butter flavor with a ribbon of sweet, homemade strawberry jam. Blackberry-Chocolate Chip ice cream is full of berry flavor, with occasional dark chocolate bits.Purchase regular cups with up to three flavors, for $4.78, or small cups, with up to two flavors, for $3.71. Add signature Fleur de Sel Caramel sauce or thick, rich chocolate sauce for 50 cents more. But the best part is taking home a hand-packed pint of heaven for $7.49.
