Midwest Living Review
Located on a hillside with dazzling views of the quaint town of Hermann, Stone Hill is one of Missouri's leading wineries (it also has branches in Branson and New Florence). On the National Historic Register, Stone Hill was started in the 1840s and by the turn of the 20th century had become the nation's second-largest winery. Stone Hill's wines have racked up hundreds of awards, and a great way to savor both the wine and the view is by staking out one of the picnic tables arrayed under shade trees along the top of the vineyard. The tour includes the enormous old wine cellars, historic Main House where the winery's first families lived, and the winery's original carriage house and horse barn, which have been turned into the excellent Vintage Restaurant. Stone Hill has a busier atmosphere than other area wineries, but we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this big, beautiful facility, which has become one of Hermann's prime attractions.
