Midwest Living Review
At this Columbia-based Courtyard by Marriott, smiling staff greets guests at the check-in desk even as they quickly and efficiently handle the rush. Across the lobby, there’s a spot to grab a quick breakfast, lots of plush seating where groups can meet, and a small marketplace selling items you might have forgotten to pack. A distinctive aroma wafts through the room—not bad, just unusual. Turns out, a special blower emits a signature “Courtyard” smell.
The guest rooms are large with big-screen TVs; desk areas where you can plug in for free Wi-Fi; and mini kitchens with microwaves, fridges and coffeemakers. King-size beds are sink-in soft and topped with numerous soft pillows. The decor is sedate: white bedspreads with bright throws over the foot of the beds and a little art on the walls. Rich wood furnishings are the only thing that really catches the eye; the bathroom is also fairly standard with complimentary travel-size Paul Mitchell toiletries.
If you’re in town for the True/False Film Festival, the hotel will shuttle you to and from downtown. And when you arrive back at the hotel, you’ll appreciate the quiet room at the end of a busy day. Rates start from $91.
