Midwest Living Review
It would be easy to spend an afternoon perusing all of the treasures in this 12-year-old store, where a sense of casual style pervades. In fact, before Pinterest became wildly popular, Cactus Creek placed decorating 'Idea Boards' around the store, such as five images that illustrated various ways to use enormous and beautifully treated animal hides that hung near the front door. Elsewhere in the store, a Coleman oil lamp stood beside a wicker-shaded table lamp and bright acrylic painting, atop a weathered wood cabinet. One tabletop vignette featured a wrought iron lamp with faux leather shade, alongside a framed photograph of a cowboy on horseback that topped an intricately carved wooden footstool. Another glowed with bright, hand-painted pottery located near pastel plastic drinking cups and several jars of salsa. Vintage books lined shelves, while a crystal candleholder stood near a full-size bed topped with a handmade quilt and country-print pillows. Woodworkers would appreciate headboards that were crafted from rustic barn wood and hanging 'hooks' attached to a knot-filled wood sliver. Other treasures ranged from cigar boxes to car magnets and antique shoe forms to Coca Cola boxes. Cactus Creek invites hours of browsing fun for avid treasure hunters and lovers of country or Western chic decor.
