Midwest Living Review
At this well-known Branson theme park, Ozark culture is as big an attraction as the thrill rides. Silver Dollar City features a familiar lineup of theme park rides: several roller coasters (including the intense WildFire), water rides and a steam train. Mixed among these in the hilly, wooded property is a seemingly never-ending collection of shops and studios where visitors can watch artisans produce pottery, blown glass, ironwork, wood carvings and more. It sometimes seems that guests buy tickets for the right to shop all the wares as much as for the rides. A busy slate of live shows provides more entertainment throughout each day, with a heavy emphasis on bluegrass and country music. During the holiday season, the park is festooned with millions of lights and puts on a compact version of "A Christmas Carol" that rivals a Broadway show in staging and overall production quality. Other special festivals throughout the year include spring's WorldFest (featuring performers from around the globe), Bluegrass & BBQ in summertime, and the National Harvest Festival in fall.
