A statue of We-No-Nah, the Dakota woman from whom Winona gets its name, graces a fountain in this pretty, downtown park, which also features a gazebo.
Make a quick stop at Windom Park when you're in Winona to pay tribute to We-No-Nah, the Dakota woman after whom the city is named. Legend has it that We-No-Nah wasn't allowed to marry the Indian brave she loved, so she jumped to her death from nearby Maiden Rock, which overlooks Lake Pepin. A statue of We-No-Nah graces the center of a large fountain in Windom Park, which also features a small gazebo. The park, which takes up a city block, is a charming oasis in the middle of town.
