Midwest Living Review
It's obviously near and dear to Minnesota Iron Rangers who were first introduced to Vi's handmade sauce, sausage and crust in 1959. She and her Italian family started selling it out of their house. Five decades, two locations and four generations later, it's still being made the same way. Our suggestion? Go for the Vi's special, piled with Italian sausage they grind and season by hand, plus pepperoni, beef, onion, mushrooms and green peppers. Dense, chewy cheese holds the toppings in place, and piquant whiffs of peppers and onions drifts through the restaurant as piping hot pizzas are delivered to diners at handmade, high-gloss tall pine tables. The sturdy, crunchy crust holds up to the generous toppings as the pizza disappears square by tasty square. It's not fast food, but no one seems to mind in this jovial Main Street gathering place. There are TVs to watch and conversations brewing. If you have kids, take along coloring books or a deck of cards and everyone will come away happy.
