Midwest Living Review
The Nordic Shop is as Minnesota as it gets -- a celebration of all things Scandinavian, from Norwegian sweaters to Swedish crystal. Established in 1974, The Nordic Shop has grown into one of the largest retailers of Scandinavian goods in the world. Sweaters dominate this University Square store, creating a kaleidoscope of colors and intricately pattered designs. Few retailers in the United States carry the full lines of sweaters by Dale of Norway and Oleana. It's not unusual for these woolens to carry price tags of $200 to $300, which doesn't seem so bad when you're still wearing them decades later. The Nordic Shop carries plenty of housewares, too, with good selections of well-known names like Orrefors, Kosta Boda, Royal Copenhagen and Prosgrund. If you're a collector (or have one on your gift list), this is the place to pick up that annual Norse Traditions Stav Church ornament or Bing and Grondahl angel. There are plenty of jewelry items, books, candles and other gifts, too. But good luck trying to leave without a sweater.
