Minnesota goes coastal with this fresh and inventive seafood restaurant in downtown Rochester's Doubletree Inn complex.

One of Rochester's newer restaurants, Pescara focuses on what they call "fresh forward food." If that means simple, yet creative dishes prepared with fresh ingredients, it looks like they've succeeded. As the name implies, Pescara's is largely a seafood dinner menu. You can choose from a lengthy list of fresh fish and seafood (swordfish, opah, snapper, calamari and so on), then choose your cooking style (grilled, sauted or broiled) and your sauce (corn truffle, sweet chili, lemon-garlic oil and several others). There are also a number of signature seafood dishes, like lemongrass crusted ahi and cioppino, that run from about $20 to $30.Located within the Doubletree Inn complex, Pescara is also open for breakfast and lunch. Downtown workers love the $10 lunch menu, with items such as the ahi tuna burger. For breakfast, unusual offerings like smoked-gouda hashbrowns and oatmeal pancakesa add a little spark to the typical eggs-and-bacon fare. There's a daily breakfast buffet, too. Pescara has a spunky ambiance, with sparkly red counters and groovy lighting. It's a bit more upscale than the owner's other restaurant, nearby Chester's Kitchen and Bar. Together, they are two of Rochester's most talked-about tables.
