Midwest Living Review
This eatery is located above the City Caf Seafood Grille and Bar and is run by the same owners. Starting with the entry through a fire escape, it has a more casual theme. Newt's is known for its free popcorn and a menu filled with burgers, fish and chips, homemade soups, piled-high nachos and hand-battered mozzarella sticks. Drink favorites run toward imported beers on tap and specialty house margaritas. Newt's half-pound hamburgers ($7 to $11) have been voted the best in the city for years and have earned kudos on the statewide level, too. They're fresh, juicy and available with almost any topping you can imagine. Everyone likes a good burger, and Newt's doesn't disappoint, but perhaps they take things a bit too far with dishes like the Fatty Melt (two grilled cheese sandwiches wrapped around a burger and smothered with fried onion rings) and the Gravy Train Burger (a deep-fried potato patty atop a burger with gravy for dipping). If you believe in moderation, this may not be the place for you.
