Midwest Living Review
Falconer Vineyards Winery on the Great River Road Wine Trail is just about everything a winery should be. The grounds are beautiful, featuring not only the vineyard in all its leafy glory but also a profusion of flowers and a burbling waterfall. Decorative black metal tables and chairs are scattered about, and you'll find fire pits, a grill, bocce ball equipment—pretty much everything you need to have a pleasant picnic. The only hangup here is the rushed and sometimes inattentive service in the tasting room, where you can sample about a dozen wines for $5, then browse a wide variety of wine-related gifts. Just out the back door is a spacious deck where you can pop open a bottle, relax and enjoy. A brand-new wood-fired oven stands in one corner, ready to bake pizzas for your enjoyment. Depending on the day you visit, you might be able to catch a concert among the vines or some other special event. But watching the sun set from Falconer's deck is a special event all its own.
