Papa Charlie's

You'll usually find a steady stream of customers at Papa Charlie's. The winter lunch crowd clomps in with ski boots, red-cheeked and fresh off the runs. By nightfall, ski lifts close and all boots are off as Papa Charlie's becomes the hub for evening entertainment. It might be darts and air hockey beneath vintage ski posters in the loft above the nightclub, or dinner and wine in the adjacent restaurant overlooking the mountains. Most likely, it's live music. Bands continually come in from nerby or the Twin Cities to strum their stuff and get the crowd going. Among Papa Charlie's popular items are the P.C. Potstickers (which also come on the kids' menu, for $6) and Maui Waui Chili ($6, bowl). Entrees may include roasted vegetable ravioli ($14.95), Jack Daniel's chicken skewers ($9.95) and maple barbecue ribs ($17.95). There's also the usual lineup of salads, burgers and sandwiches, drinks and even milkshakes. Summer visitors have the luxury of eating on the deck and enjoying the rare feel of mountains in the Midwest. But in any season, Papa Charlie's is worth a visit.
