Midwest Living Review
The Grand Marais Recreation Area’s well-maintained campground is vast—300 sites to be exact—with lodging options such as fully loaded pull-through sites with water, electricity and sewer (from $38) to quaint tent sites positioned next to the cobblestoned Lake Superior shoreline (from $19).
The beach is beautiful, but given how cool Lake Superior can be, the supervised city pool makes a good swimming alternative for just $4 a day. Back at the campground, there are several playgrounds, a ball field and lots of picnic spaces large enough to accommodate crowds. This would be a great place to host a family reunion.
There's plenty to keep campers occupied, but those who feel like venturing out will be happy to know that downtown Grand Marais is just a few blocks away, offering easy access to cute shops and excellent restaurants within walking distance. In fact, a nice dinner out in town will probably set you back more than your nightly lodging.
