Midwest Living Review
Located on the second floor of Hotel Ivy, Ivy Spa Club provides a relaxing, pampering experience with a full menu of spa services, from massages and body wraps to facials and waxing. Although Ivy Spa Club is relaxing, it's not perfect, with a cramped locker room, high prices for services and a sales push at the end of the visit. Guests are encouraged to arrive early or stay after their appointments to take a sauna, sit in the steam room or work out at the fitness center. (Note that the sauna, whirlpool and cold plunge shower are co-ed. If you forget your swimsuit, the spa does have black one-piece suits available to borrow.) If any questions arise, such as how to operate the multijet Kohler shower with electronic control panel, you'll need to go back to the front desk and ask; after a brief introduction to the locker room facilities, the staff won't be hanging around. We arrived an hour early for our appointment. After filling out a short disclaimer form, we received a brief tour, then slipped into a provided white terry-cloth robe and sandals in the small locker room. Belongings are kept safe in lockers with electronic locks. Spa guests quietly float between rooms in their bathrobes, taking cat naps or sipping lemon water and tea in the lovely relaxation lounge before massages, facials or pedicures. We were pleased that our facial would happen on a massage table in a warm, comfortable, dimly lit room. Erin, our aesthetician, was knowledgeable and friendly. In the end, the Ivy Spa Club experience is calm and renewing, making a great girls' getaway, or a perfect excuse to just go solo and relax. After all, who doesn't like spending the day in their bathrobe getting pampered?
