Midwest Living Review
Ely Steak House is an unpretentious cafe-style restaurant located in the heart of Ely. Based on the name, it is clear steaks dominate this American menu. We enjoyed shrimp, sirloin and a ribeye, and both steaks were perfectly cooked. The Bucky Burger has a fantastic just-off-the-grill smoky flavor. On Friday and Saturday, locals crowd in for the legendary prime rib special. Needless to say, vegetarian options are few and far between, but the cheese and wild rice soup is quite nice. Don't expect to be blown away with posh surroundings. Furnishings include old wall paneling, dim lighting and the occasional cracked vinyl booth. But that's easy to overlook given the hearty food, great service and relaxed dining experience.
