Crow Wing Crest Lodge

There's a fresh twist to this peaceful lakeside cabin compound in Akeley: the owners offer New Age activities, including aromatherapy and reflexology. The century-old lodge (once the centerpiece of a logging camp) has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. You'll find kayaks and watercraft free for guests, a 200-foot beach, and good fishing, partly due to the on-property rearing pond for northern pike. Older, smaller cabins are comfortable, clean and well-equipped but not stylish. They're also priced accordingly. 19 cabins (two- to four-bedroom) from $935 per week for four in the summer season.
