Midwest Living Review
A $30 million renovation transformed Chase on the Lake from a past-its-prime 1922 property to the region's premiere showpiece. The hotel features 70 rooms and 46 condo units. Rates range from $79-$139 for a basic room not facing the lake to $139-$479 for condos that sleep five and include lakeside porches. Overlooking Minnesota's third-largest lake, Leech Lake, the hotel provides a spectacular view. True to its roots, the style is Arts and Crafts with glowing woodwork, fireplaces and beautiful stained-glass lamps and lighting. For families looking to blow off some steam, the hotel now features a Wii room, a kids' club packed with supervised activities, a two-lane bowling alley, a pool area, a sandy beach, pontoon rides, fishing clinics, snowmbiling and hiking, biking and cross-country skiing in the nearby Chippewa National Forest. If you prefer more laid-back adventures, get a new updo at the on-site Aveda spa and enjoy upscale shopping within a few blocks of your room. The 502 Restaurant and Bar also offers gorgeous views of the lake, outdoor dining when the weather warms up, and a diverse selection of food, including wild-rice walleye cakes, almond-fried walleye, and Thai beef salad.
