Tait's Bill of Fare

There are plenty of places in Michigan known for great dining. Oscoda isn't one of them. However, Tait's Bill of Fare serves a decent meal in a casual, comfortable setting. It's not gourmet by Traverse City or Ann Arbor standards, but the food is certainly tasty. Tait's is located on a quiet side street just north of the main stop light in downtown. The restaurant is nicely laid out, with tables spaced widely. A fireplace helps warm the atmosphere on winter nights. The house specialty is Millennium Soup, a combination of black bean and white cheddar soups forming two layers in the bowl ($3.75). Entrees include a lightly breaded and tasty pan-fried walleye for $18.95. Other options include pan-fried perch ($19.95), chicken Marsala ($15.50) and ribs (three-quarter slab for $19.95). Skip the small dessert offerings; walk instead to one of downtown Oscoda's ice cream dispensaries. Tait Bill of Fare serves lunch and dinner and has a bar that's separate from the dining room. It's a good option in Oscoda for a nice, reliable dinner in a comfortable atmosphere.
