Midwest Living Review
Capt. William Carmichael is the one-man operation behind Rainbow Charter Service, one of several charter boats that leave from the marina in Oscoda. He takes a laid back approach to business and lets clients name the departure time in the morning. (A nice perk for folks who would rather sleep an extra hour!) He also doesn't make any false promises about what you might catch. The salmon population is depleted in Lake Huron, and he lets people know that right away, so they don't get high hopes. Still, lake trout are around (and biting) in abundance, and on our 6-hour trip with Capt. Bill, we also reeled in a beautiful silvery steelhead. Aside from coffee, food isn't included on the boat, so plan to bring snacks, and also pack your checkbook. Credit cards aren't accepted.
