Midwest Living Review
Families looking for a rainy-day activity in Petoskey will love Jack and Jills, a small shop opened in 2011 and run by textile artists whose specialty is tie-dye. Brightly colored T-shirts and scarves for adults, kids and babies -- all crafted by the owners -- hang from clotheslines around the simple room. As tie-dye goes, it's quality stuff in a variety of designs and colors. The store also offers alterations and clothing design services, as well as a handful of products made by other textile artists. But the real draw here is the do-it-yourself tie-dye station in the back of the shop, where you can make a souvenir T-shirt any time. Tie-dye classes are offered on weekends as well. The fee is just $15, and you get a 50 percent discount if you bring your used clothes to dye.
