Midwest Living Review
The Lake Huron shore has a laid-back, old-fashioned feel. People don't come to the Sunrise Coast for fancy restaurants or slick hotels. Instead, the typical visitor wants a quiet week on the beach, some good lake fishing and maybe a couple dinners out at the local tavern. Oscoda is that kind of beach town. A few people offer charter fishing trips, and a string of cottage resorts stretches north and south of town. Though there are plenty of restaurants in town, your best bet is to stop at the local Glen's Market and stock up on groceries. Playing in the sand, grilling out on the beach, catching a few lake trout, drinking a cold one as the sun goes down, and the repeating it all again the next day -- that's Oscoda.
