Midwest Living Review
Southwest Michigan's vacation country is dripping in local ice cream shops. M&M's on the Blue Star Highway outside Douglas isn't one of the fanciest, but it serves up great ice cream that's perfect for a roadside break on a summer evening. The small building is marked with a plywood sign and posts the menu on sheets of paper in the front window. Most of the sundaes are named after local kids, and the shop gives a lot of attention to the details about things like how much malt powder they mix in and when a shot of soft-serve goes into the shakes for the right consistency. If you like yours made a certain way, just let them know. And keep in mind that they serve portions on par with the rest of the area's ice-cream joints: a single scoop is plenty for most people.
