Midwest Living Review
Under the management of new owners who value locally grown fresh ingredients, Island Slice is the place to go for pizza on Mackinac Island.
Pizza options include deep-dish and traditional with mostly classic toppings. The ultrathin wheat crust of the savory veggie pizza holds up well to mushrooms, olives, fresh mozzarella, sun-dried tomatoes, caramelized onions, roasted garlic and fresh basil ($22). Diners with smaller appetites will be glad to know they can get a large single slice of cheese or pepperoni for $4. Also popular are the oven-baked subs ($9.75 with chips and a pickle) and huge, colorful salads like the antipasto ($11) with romaine lettuce, Genoa salami, olives, chickpeas and provolone dressed with a red wine vinaigrette.
Island Slice is a busy eat-in destination thanks to its colorful checkered tablecloths and interesting wall coverings. Late-night hours with a special menu served until 3 a.m. make this a popular post-pub stop. Take-out and delivery are also available.
