The Cottage Inn boasts modern amenities while staying perfectly in step with Mackinac Island's Victorian character.

In 2000, Cottage Inn owner and (long-time islander) Bob Benser constructed this 11-guestroom Victorian charmer on the site of an old barn close to the fort and the ferry docks. His intention was to create modern accommodations that structurally blended in with Mackinac Island houses built a century earlier. When creating the design for his B&B, Bob carefully studied the architecture of the island's most gracious homes.

The result is an affordable bed-and-breakfast ($95 to $275) with inviting features like turrets, second-floor balconies and a cozy wrap-around porch. The inn also boasts plenty of up-to-date amenities, including rainfall showerheads, luxury linens, flatscreen TVs and free Wi-Fi. Guests can expect to be pampered with sweet afternoon treats, free microwave popcorn, and hearty breakfast spreads that include egg dishes, muffins, fruit, yogurt, breads and cereal.
