Midwest Living Review
The Fabiano family has owned and operated the beloved Holland Peanut Store since 1902. As the name suggests, the Peanut started out by roasting nuts. Michigan customers of a certain age may well remember visiting this store in their youth, its wooden floors creaky underfoot, breathing in the scent of toasty nut oils. The Peanut still keeps this proud tradition alive, but these days, it’s primarily considered a candy shop.
This little sweet spot carries almost every kind of treat, from the latest Jelly Belly flavors to sophisticated European chocolates with exotic ingredients. Glass display cases showcase tempting truffles, melt-in-your-mouth seafoam, turtles, chocolate-dipped pretzels, cookies and marshmallows. The retro offerings include candy necklaces, bubble gum cigarettes (yes, they still make them) and those little wax pop bottles that you chew open to get to the sweet liquid.
The Holland Peanut is always crowded, and children always welcome.
