Midwest Living Review
Owned by the same folks who run the Shamrock, Harbour Market is a pleasant, bright cafe serving fresh baked goods, coffee and chai at breakfast and sandwiches and pizzas at lunch. On hot summer afternoons, Harbour Market is the place to go for generous scoops of Moomers Ice Cream, a favorite Northern Michigan ice creamery based in Traverse City. Wicker chairs sit around glass-topped tables in the cheerful red-and-orange dining room. Outside are several wrought-iron umbrella tables; the shop also sells food to go. We tried a fresh raspberry scone and rich black coffee for breakfast and thought them both good. Other breakfast pastries include muffins and homemade cinnamon rolls. Baked goods cost about $3; sandwiches about $6.One odd addition is a large supply of beer, wine and liquor -- unexpected in a bakery/cafe. Perhaps it's an effort to keep the island happily stocked with all necessary goods. At any rate, visitors who want to purchase alcohol to take back to their home or hotel room can find a supply here.
