Midwest Living Review
In the ubiquitous Bavarian architectural style of Frankenmuth, this attractive and well-landscaped outdoor shopping complex contains a number of specialty shops and restaurants, including Riverplace Toys, The Enchanted Forest (for fairy and gnome-theme items and costumes), Humor Us (gag gifts and nostalgia items), la Crepe du Jour (for crepes and coffee), and The Michigan Shoppe (featuring Michigan made and theme gifts and apparel). Notable for its lack of national chain stores, the exception being Yankee Candle, this is a good place to spend some family time if you run into bad weather. There is a video arcade (with a bar area adjacent for Mom and Dad), a Mirror Maze and Laser Beam Challenge. Other unique shops include For Bare Feet (novelty socks), Let's Talk Girl Talk (girly gifts for all ages), Hello Cats and Dogs (to take something home for Fido or Fluffy), and the Frankenmuth Hobby Center (radio-controlled cars, helicopters and boats). Despite a number of empty storefronts, there's still a little something for everyone here. Parking is plentiful with easy walking access to Main Street where parking can be a challenge.
